Alte Post Gasthaus Adler, Messkirch, Germany

The town of Messkirch is in Baden – Wurttemberg, near the Black Forest. The philosopher Martin Heidegger was born there in 1889. I visited the restaurant of Alte Post Gasthaus Adler back in 2010.
The hotel – restaurant was located in the center of the town. Today it is permanently closed.

As we entered the restaurant, on the left, I saw a display with photos under a title “The Story of our House”.

Martin Heidegger was featured in one of the photographs.

The dining hall was bright and frequented by local clients. Messkirch is not by any stretch of the imagination a town that attracts tourists.

Black and White Sausages with Sauerkraut.

Trout in lemon sauce.

Veal tongue with mushrooms.

After our meal we visited the “Heidegger Museum”, which is housed in the town’s castle.

We were the only visitors.
