At the top of the Castella hill in Piraeus, Panorama restaurant serves fresh fish and seafood at reasonable prices. The view of the Saronic Gulf is stunning, and the atmosphere casual and relaxed. This restaurant is one of the hidden gems of Greek Cuisine and my favorite seafood restaurant in Attica.

Crabmeat with avocado is one of the best appetizers and is not always available. But when it is, I always take it because it is superb in its simplicity.

Marinated anchovy. The humble fish is marinated in house and is one of the appetizers that goes very well with ouzo.

Boiled octopus dressed in olive oil and vinegar is a standard appetizer in the Greek cuisine. The simple dish requires that the octopus is boiled to perfection, which in my book is ‘al dente’.

The Fish Soup is made to order with the fish the customer selects. I call the restaurant a day ahead, select the fish with the help of the owner, and the next day the delicious soup is waiting on my table.

Fried Crayfish Tails are a must for a seafood dinner. Their flesh is sweet and juicy.

Fried calamari is served almost everywhere, but it is the freshness and the quality of the catch that makes all the difference.

In order to grill a Red Mullet, it must weigh more than 300 grams. They do not come easy, so when the owner tells me that he has them I always ask him to grill them.

Boiled Stira, a member of the grouper family of fishes. This is an excellent fish to prepare a soup w with.
